Protest against Pathaan: Members of fringe outfit burn effigies of Shahrukh, Deepika

Protest against Pathaan: Garment activists staged a protest against the upcoming Bollywood film Pathaan and the song Besharam Rang in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday. Veer Shivaji Group clothing activists gathered at a road junction in Indore and burnt effigies of actors Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan. They are demanding a ban on the film, which will be released on December 25. They claim that the content of the song "Besharam Rang" offends the people of India.

Mishra opposes 'confrontational scenes'

The protest came hours after state minister Narottam Mishra demanded a ban on "unpleasant scenes" and the use of saffron clothing.

The makers of 2023's most awaited film Pathaan recently released the first song titled Besharam Rang. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has been embroiled in controversy after Padukone and lead actor Shah Rukh Khan expressed displeasure over the color of their dresses, demanding a "correction".

Mishra asked what the government should do about the film's release in the country if some scenes in the song were not "fixed".

Incidentally, Narottam Mishra has warned the makers of Adipurush, a Bollywood film based on the epic Ramayana, of legal action if scenes depicting Hindu religious figures in a "wrong" manner are removed.

SRK apologizes

Mishra had earlier performed puja at Janapaw Kuti near Mhow, the birthplace of Lord Parshuram, and then targeted the film Pathaan and the song Besharam Rang.

Meanwhile, Sanskriti Bachao Manch president Chandrashekhar Tiwari also protested over the song "Besharam Rang" and his team members protested against the lead actor.

Talking to reporters, Tiwari said, "This is an insult to our saffron shirt which Sanskriti Bachao Manch will not tolerate. Shah Rukh Khan remembered Vaishno Devi when Indians started boycotting your film. You opened Vaishno Devi before the release of your film. You should apologize to all Indians and remove songs from this film because Indians made you a superstar. Shah Rukh Khan, why do you always lower your image by doing such things? You should apologize to all those who believe in Sanatan Dharma."
